5 of 5 By far, my most productive and favorite corn January 29, 2026
Reviewer: Jim Schlaegel from Sacramento, CA United States
I've tried other varieties, and other types, but the Honey Select synergistic is always the first and last variety to produce, is consistent throughout our long growing season, seems to be less affected by the cold or heat, and the flavor and texture of the eating is not surpassed. The vigorous stalks are tall, but not too leafy, making harvesting or companion growing easy.  I get two ears per stalk on most stalks.  It seems to hold better on the stalk than other varieties.  Germination rate is close to 100%, even keeping seed for three years.  During the corn season, we eat fresh corn most dinners, and some days I froze 20lbs of cut corn.  It freezes very well in a vacuum freezer bag, with no blanching.  The ears are even and full, and easy to cut the kernels off when desired.  When prepping them, I cut the bottom stalk piece, and chop the top, saving the silk clump for smoothies. We usually just microwave the ears in the husk, which gives a better flavor and is quicker.

5 of 5 Perfect eating corn that grows so easily and well September 8, 2025
Reviewer: Jim from Sacramento
I'm tried other varieties, but this is the only one that I get close to 100% germination and easily grows when others don't, right next to each other in same ground.  I vacuum seal and refrigerate the seeds, and even after 2-4 years, I still get almost 100% germination... way more than I get with "fresh seeds" of other varieties.  It holds well, is tender, full flavored, and exceptionally sweet.  The ears are full and beautiful, and easily cut off the cob to freeze, and it is very tall and beautiful standing in the corn patch, with many double-ear stalks with two full ears.  I don't know if it's just a combination of my soil and Sacramento weather, but this is the only variety I use anymore, since others aren't even worth the effort of trying anymore.  The commercial operation in our area grows Bodacious, but this Honey Select is so much better for my small retirement farm, and better eating... which we do every night during corn season.
