Not your cute skinny little carrot, but a shorter fatter variety. Works well where other carrots can't stand your dense dirt. Because of the shape, they are actually easier to peel, if you want to peel it. Out of season, we bought some Sam's Club carrots, and they were horrible carrots... nowhere near as sweet or flavorful as the Chantenay. They also hold well in the ground.
