Sweet Corn Growing Season
While each variety of sweet corn may differ slightly in time to maturity and growing conditions, the following generally applies to all varieties of sweet corn.
Sweet corn is a summer vegetable that should be planted in the late spring, two weeks after the last frost, and harvested in early fall, around September. Your sweet corn should be planted in rows of 6- to 12-inch-deep mounds, with three to four seeds per mound, and in soil with a pH between 5.5 and 7.0. While there might be some variation between species, corn is typically ready to harvest in the fall when the husk has dried and the ears of corn are no longer green.
