Wildflowers For Shade General Performance Characteristics |

| Like most flowers, this mix will do well in full sun, but it will perform best in shade (minimum of 4 hours of sun per day). Total shade will result in few blooms. This mix can be planted on moderate slopes, but care should be taken for the first four weeks after planting to protect the site from soil and seed washout. At maturity this mix will grow to a height of 2-3', depending on soil and weather conditions. Different species not only flower at different times but at different heights also, giving a pleasing colorful effect. | |||

| As a general rule, this mix should be planted at the rate of 4 pounds per acre (1 pound per 10,000 square feet). On slopes or places where there is high winds, you should increase the rate by 50-100%. A heavier rate may be desired on smaller areas where the planting will be viewed at close range, or you intend to pick the flowers a great deal. | |||
What To Expect In The Years To Come |

| These varieties have been selected for hardiness and broad ranges of adaptability and for tolerance to shady areas. Due to climate, weather and soil conditions, some natural selection will occur. The perennial varieties generally do not bloom the first year, but should become permanent fixtures for years to come. Every other year you may want to over seed the area to maintain the original balance of the mixture. | |||
